「あれから何年経っただろう？」ベンチに腰を下ろし、過ぎた日々に思いを馳せるひととき。現代は、自分の興味や役割のなかに閉じこもりやすい時代。そんな今だからこそ、校庭で過ごした時間や風景は、誰もが共有する記憶として残っているのではないだろうか。椅子を傾けて足をぶらつかせながらおしゃべりをしたり、背に落書きを刻んだり。そうした原風景から着想を得て、このベンチをデザインした。あの頃の椅子は小さく、居場所も限られていた。そこに再び腰掛けることで、当時の自分や同級生との記憶と出会い直す。そんな「再会のベンチ」である。

How many years has it been since then?” A moment of sitting on the bench, reflecting on days gone by. Today, it is easy to retreat into one’s own interests and roles. Precisely for this reason, the hours and scenes spent in the schoolyard may remain as shared memories for everyone. Tilting a chair, swinging one’s legs while chatting, or carving doodles into the backrest—these primal images inspired the design of this bench. The chairs of those days were small, with limited places to belong. Sitting here once again brings us back to encounters with our younger selves and classmates. This is the “Bench of Reunion.

真珠養殖の筏の上に、小さな光が揺れる。
水中の真珠を、水面を堺に鏡像反転して光の粒として表現。
風や波の動きに合わせて揺らぐ。
この場所の営みが光の揺らぎとして見える。

On the rafts used for pearl cultivation, small lights shimmer.
Pearls beneath the water are mirrored across the surface, expressed as particles of light.
They waver with the movements of wind and waves.
The life of this place becomes visible as a trembling of light.
